Explore Torquay
Life is busy. God’s people are busy at work, at home, and in the local church. Rising Lights is an opportunity to step away from the busyness for a few days of refreshment.
Whilst our programme is packed with good things, none of it is compulsory. There will be plenty of opportunity to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Torquay beach and harbour.
You could even use Rising Lights as a whole-church get-away. The teaching programme is sorted, so you can return refreshed for the next season of ministry together.
Some of the attractions and things to do nearby include:
- Torquay marina and harbour.
- Beaches including Torre Abbey Sands, Oddicombe Beach, Broadsands, or Meadfoot beach.
- The South West Coast Path for walks.
- Torre Abbey museum and gardens.
- Babbacombe Model Village and gardens.
- Kents Cavern prehistoric caves.

We are delighted to be partnering with 10ofThose who are providing the bookstall at Rising Lights.
They will be stocking a wide range of books and resources, including event-specific offers and titles by Rising Lights contributors.
Enjoy our activities
Alongside the programme of teaching and seminars, there is loads more to do across our venues during the week – from books to bricks, movies to music.
Fun Zone
The Fun Zone brings inflatable and giant games for the young – and young at heart – to enjoy, including:
- Ball pit and soft play
- Giant bouncy castle
- Garden games, including giant Jenga
- Last One Standing spinning arm
- LED table football
- Table tennis
- ...and more!
Make Space
Each afternoon, Make Space is a place to reflect and get a little arty.
Make a zine or a badge or a postcard. Get your speedy portrait drawn. Or work on your own art projects with tea and company.
Then on an evening, relax with some chill beats and open mic slots.
Bring a boardgame, grab a drink, and make some friends.
The Big Build
The Big Build brings a week of LEGO® building to Rising Lights.
Bring your imagination and see what you can build – whatever it is, it will certainly be awesome!
Spotlight Cinema
Bring your popcorn and retreat into Spotlight Cinema - our pop-up family cinema - for an afternoon movie each day.
Guided Walks
If you enjoy a getting out into the fresh air and would like to explore the area, there are guided walks during the week led by a local walker.
Praise Concert
We are grateful to Phil Moore and his band for leading our sung worship through the week.
